SELINA MARSH DDE ISTD
Principal and Teacher
Originally from Leicestershire, Selina began dancing at a young age and achieved great success in dance examinations and competitions throughout her youth. At 16 she trained professionally in Musical Theatre at the esteemed Arts Ed London before embarking on a 10 year career as an Actor, Singer and Dancer. Selina played leading roles in the West End and featured as regular characters for BBC television among other credits. Her industry experience is extensive and diverse.
Selina became a mum in 2012, settled in Abingdon and went in search of new challenges to complement family life! She was thrilled to return to her routes and retrain as a dance teacher and now holds a Diploma in Dance Education from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. Selina has been greatly influenced by the school’s founder and principal for over 30 years, Judy Tompsett who she worked alongside before taking over the school in April 2015. Selina is continually refreshed and delighted by the attitudes and achievements of the wonderful children that she teaches and is looking forward to a long and exciting adventure in Abingdon.
JUDY TOMPSETT LISTD LAMDA
“Just as I had hoped, Selina is taking the dance school into the 21st Century with verve, expertise and enthusiasm. As well as offering solid technical training, Selina will, I am sure, keep up with current styles of dance to inspire the younger generation and through her personal experience as a talented and sought-after actress, dancer and singer, will instil not only good technique but the ability to perform with truth and passion.
I originally formed the dance school back in 1981 after retiring from working professionally in theatre and film. Historically the school has thrived by being a place where young people could explore the magic qualities of dance, make friends, contribute, and learn skills that will enhance their future lives.
I wish Selina and MTSD great success for the future.“
